What a preventive visit looks like

Every preventive appointment includes a thorough cleaning by our hygienist, a comprehensive exam with the doctor, low-radiation digital X-rays as needed, and an oral cancer screening. We also check your bite, your gums, and any existing dental work to make sure everything is holding up.

Patients of all ages are welcome โ€” we start seeing children as early as 6 months old.

Preventive services we offer

How often should you come in?

Most patients do best with cleanings every six months. Patients with gum disease, diabetes, or certain other risk factors may benefit from more frequent visits โ€” we'll recommend a schedule that fits your specific needs.

Frequently asked questions

How often do I really need a dental cleaning?

For most healthy adults, every six months. If you have gum disease, diabetes, or are pregnant, your dentist may recommend every three to four months.

Are digital X-rays safe?

Digital X-rays use up to 90% less radiation than traditional film and are considered very safe. We only take X-rays when they're clinically necessary.

At what age should my child first see a dentist?

We recommend a first dental visit around age 1, or within six months of the first tooth erupting. We see kids as young as 6 months.
