Preventive Dentistry
At Wharton Dental, we make preventive care a priority — after all, it’s much easier to stop a dental problem before it starts instead of treating frustrating, costly damage to your smile later on.
What a preventive visit looks like
Our team’s goal is to exceed your expectations from your very first evaluation here in Wharton, TX. These routine visits allow us to learn everything we need to know about your oral health and personal smile goals, including an in-depth visual exam, digital X-rays, intraoral images, screenings, and a discussion of the results.
Dr. Phil Tiet, Dr. Monica Gerges, and the rest of our staff are happy to lay the groundwork for lifelong oral health with comprehensive evaluations, refreshing hygiene appointments, and other services that offer you and your loved ones valuable protection and support.

Why every six months matters
Many people are under the impression that if they already brush and floss twice a day, they don’t need to come in for a dental checkup and cleaning every six months. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Even people who are incredibly diligent in their oral hygiene regimen are still susceptible to problems like cavities and gum disease — and these issues often don’t display noticeable symptoms like pain until irreversible damage has already been done. That’s why you should see your dentist in Wharton at least twice a year.
You can easily get rid of plaque with daily brushing and flossing, but once it hardens into tartar after about 12 hours, only a trained dental professional can remove it. That’s where your dental hygienist can help.

For most healthy adults, every six months. If you have gum disease, diabetes, or are pregnant, your dentist may recommend every three to four months.

Digital X-rays use up to 90% less radiation than traditional film and are considered very safe. We only take X-rays when they're clinically necessary.
